The Kitchen = Closing 5

The Kitchen = Closing

Unfortunate news coming from South Bend, Indiana. The Kitchen - Brett Banasiewicz's park - will be closing its doors at the end of the month.

Here's the official word -

"It is with heavy hearts that we have to close our doors after eight great years due to unforeseen circumstances (COVID-19). The Kitchen was Brett Banassiewicz's dream and we are happy to have been able to share it with you all. This skatepark was more than just a place to ride and we can’t thank you all enough for the support over the years.

To celebrate everything The Kitchen has been to all of us, come join us for one last weekend of riding May 29-31. Let’s pack this place!"

Stay tuned for more info on the final session.

A ton of incredible riding went down at The Kitchen during its life. Here's a video of Colton Walker riding the park we dropped around two years ago -

That is really a shame...

It sucks most of these places simply run to stay open and don't turn enough of a profit to be prepared for unexpected hardships. You cant really blame the owners, they're just a tough business to sustain through economic swings...I wish they were more profitable. It sucks to lose a place like this because of some shitty virus...

yea if places like these were appreciated and invested in more it would be more sustainable. My town doesnt understand bmx its sports are mostly football and gaa so they profit more from that which is annoying.
