Is this a good price for what you're getting? From my untrained eye not too many aftermarket parts.

Honestly, it's a good bike. I don't know that it's worth that much. I believe you are paying for the name more than anything. Case in point... Compare it to this one:

http://www.easternbikes.com/shovelhead

Pretty much the same bike but the eastern is $399 delivered (stateside).

As far as "aftermarket parts". You aren't going to find true aftermarket parts on a complete. You'll get that manufacturers parts... Which isn't bad, necessarily. For instance, both this fit and eastern shovelhead have forged stems. You don't get any stronger than forged for stems. As for the other parts, I'd say they are a horse a piece. So, personally, I wouldn't spend that extra money just because it says "fit" on it. But, it isn't a bad bike, by any stretch. I'm sure it would hold up well and you'd get a lot of use out of it.

I was comparing the fit to the crysis, wondering if the crysis is worth the extra $50 or so

Compare specs. I'd say the crysis probably isn't worth any more than the fit. In falling for the "name brand" thing, I'd lean toward the crysis. I've always liked them, but for no reason whatsoever. If you are looking for a good bike & both the fit and WTP fit your desired specifications (geo, parts, tt, etc) but are still trying to save some money, buy the fit.

That fit also has a single wall front rim.

But it does have mounting points. My mistake.

Revenge double-wall rear rim, removable brake mounts

This is what it says in the description. I'm a bit confused.

Sorry for my lack of observation, I was wrong about the brake mounts, I took a glance at the pic and it looked like a brakeless frame.

The only negative I can see is that the front rim is a single wall. The rear is double though.

Just bear in mind you're not allowed to put pegs on it. But you don't need pegs anyway

Yeah its a mid range Fit complete, so it has a single wall front rim and a double wall rear rim, go with the Eastern Shovelhead, it's cheaper, and it has double wall rims FRONT and rear... which is better, and the bike is cheaper, and better, it's a win win if you ask me!

I don't crash, I do random gravity checks...

I looked over both bikes. Both have rear brake bosses, guides, and are drilled for gyro tabs. I do think that the crysis is the better bike, overall., as the parts list seems a bit higher. For instance, both bikes only have 8-spline crank spindles. But the crysis doesn't employ a pinch bolt design (weaker) but the fit does (oddly enough, I've never seen a non-pinch bolt 8-spline crank before.).. That, and the fit does only have a single wall front rim. Double is preferred.

Lastly, & not to beat a dead horse but the Eastern Shovelhead I linked above has everything both the crysis and the fit have PLUS 48 splined heat treated Chromoly cranks. All that for $399 delivered! I bought the 17 in trans gold last year & had it in under 12 hours.

Quality parts-wise the shovelhead is hard to beat. The only determining factor would be geometry. How tall you are and such.

Fit.
Toptube: 21"
Headtube Angle: 75.75°
Seattube Angle: 71°
Seattube Height: 9"
BB Height: 11.8"
Chainstays: 13.11"
165mm cranks
9.5 in bars

Fit sounds like a street machine.

I'm 6'1" about 210. I'm really down to the fit or the wtp, will be riding only street. I'd love to break out my 92 performer but it's just so pretty and is a bit small with a 19.5 TT, and what did the other guy mean about not being able to put pegs on it?

Fuck it, then, If money isn't an issue, get the crysis. 1.) It's spec'd better than the FIT 2.) It also has a street geo. & 3.) It's a We The People. Fits are everywhere. & I just like WTP better. I just think the company has a cooler vibe. Yeah... That's brandism. Sorry... I'm a brandist.

I think the fit or the wtp will...fit your peoples better.

The eastern is a shorter bike height-wise and length -wise.

The wtp feels like a fucking limousine though...lol

With a greyhound bus steering wheel.

I helped my (at the time) friend buy a crysis, i chipped in 100 so he wouldnt have to comprimise and it was a great decision. I dont talk to him anymore but Im sure hes still riding that bike. Comes with to plastic sleeved pegs and hub guards i think too.

He crashes a lot and hes still on 100 percent original parts...

Ive never ridden the fit but if youre tall go for the bigger bikes imo.

Based on my experience Id say go for the wtp but its going to boil down to whichever one you think is cooler.

The fit has some super street features though...165mm cranks, 75.75 head tube...etc.

That will help if you like street and nose tricks.

I just want to point out, for pointing out sake, that the difference between the tt sizes of the Shovelhead and either of these bikes is 1/8". .125".... About the size of 2 penny's pinched between your fingers. If we were discussing the difference between a 20.5" & a 21", that's debatable. But this minuscule amount wouldn't even be noticed. If you did the Pepsi Challenge with two identical bikes, in EVERY WAY, except one had a tt of 20.85" & the other had a 21".... I'm betting nobody could pick out which was which.

I was just texting "red" when I decided to look at both again... While I like the red, I think the black looks more like a custom build. So I vote Black.

Yeah it's tough, but I come from the days when neon pink and neon orange were the norm. I know todays bikes are built better but the bikes of the past just looked SO much cooler.

All 3 choices are badass.

The newer easterns look like they come with a top load which probably brimgs the bars closer to 9" rise.

Get the eastern if you want money for upgrades or just different parts in the future.

Get the fit if you dont mind the single wall front rim but value the super street geo.

Get the wtp if you want a super solid bike that is well rounded.

Do you grind on the right at all?

If so, the Eastern will give you 80 to $120 more to invest in a guarded sprocket and a decent Hub guard. I think the eastern comes with 2 pegs.
