Added reply in a thread Parts Drought 10/5/2020 6:33 AM

I'll go along with you there for the most part, especially on the toilet paper. You have idiots filling entire closets, or whatever they are doing with it. It does seem there is a shortage of a lot of bikes and parts, though. It looks like even the completes ... more »

Added reply in a thread Clicking noise on new bike? 10/4/2020 8:41 PM

I wonder if this might just be part of the deal with aluminum frames. I never owned one until about a month ago. I bought a chase race frame to take some of the work load off my old Gt. It freaks me out a little because for one it doesn’t flex, like ... more »

Added reply in a thread best 9.5-9.75 bars with 4 degrees upsweep 10/4/2020 8:05 PM

I was going to say the bars MJ is referring to sound like race bars. I’ve been spending a good number of hours on my race bike lately and my current bars are 6 back 4 up, 8.5 rise. They feel good, but I’m riding on dirt. Not the same as street and park. ... more »

Got a pic or specs on your champion? That would help us know what specs you are looking for. If by height you are referring to standover, newer bmx’s aren’t really meant for sit down pedaling. That’s not to say you can’t raise the seat when you are just ... more »

Added reply in a thread Massive bars 10/4/2020 12:13 AM

I don’t know how people ride such tall setups. My preference is 9-9.5 inch on front load and 8-8.5 on top load. Just cruising I really don’t notice much difference in comfort on my shorter bars vs tall ones. Tallest I ever rode was 9 inch on a top load ... more »

Good to see you back, man. Hate to think you were so bad off. It’s good to hear you are getting better. I don’t use social media for much, but I can say for certain your presence here on the forum was missed.

Added reply in a thread best 9.5-9.75 bars with 4 degrees upsweep 10/3/2020 10:47 PM

I went around with this recently. Got mixed opinions on what feels good and doesn’t. Seems like a preference thing that varies from one person to another. There’s a few with 3° upsweep in the range of height you are looking at S&M credence xl’s, ... more »

I thought that thing looked good in the stock photos online, but it looks even cooler in the different angles you got there. There’s enough silver and chrome already on the bike I’d think chrome bars would look good if you do decide to change them.

Thanks guys. I’ll definitely post up how the bars feel. I left some extra room on my fork to bump the stem up and down with spacers if necessary to find what I ultimately like best. Hopefully I’ll have the VHS all put together and be healed up to do ... more »

Added reply in a thread Opinion on wearing helmets? 9/28/2020 11:56 PM

I have a bad habit of not wearing mine when I think I’m just going for a quick cruise, then get caught up playing around, doing stuff I shouldn’t be doing without one. There’s no good excuse for me not to wear it either. The one I have right now is comfortable ... more »

Hey all. Bumping this thread one more time to say thanks for all the advice, and I did finally make a decision. Got Salt city bars from Empire, should be here later in the week. I must have got the last set, too because they aren’t listed on the site ... more »

Added reply in a thread Spray Painting a... Tire?! 9/28/2020 10:15 PM

You might have some luck with tire markers. I used them years ago autocrossing, and the colors weren’t the most vibrant, but they were visible and held up okay. I put a link below. Link

Added reply in a thread ODSY Broc Tires & Bead Problem 9/28/2020 9:57 PM

Some wheels and tires are more of pain than others. I wrecked the bead on a duo tire. They were fine when I was playing in the dirt, but I landed crossed up playing on the asphalt and ripped the bead on the rear. Those tires were a pain to get straight ... more »

Added reply in a thread switching from street to a park bike 9/28/2020 9:35 PM

It’s fun to change it up now and then. Sometimes I like the mid school feel, sometimes I want the lighter weight and responsiveness of a modern ride. I’d probably be a more skilled rider if I wasn’t on a different bike like every other day, but I like ... more »

Added reply in a thread I bought a bike!! 9/28/2020 8:46 PM

Definitely does happen, especially lately with covid going on. I just had a rim get stuck somewhere in usps limbo land for like a week. Like cky says, just heightens the anticipation. That said, good choice on the bike. Nice specs for a cruiser. Seems ... more »

I think you'll be happy with the grifter. Having had the two next to each other I think the 2.1 Grifter is a pretty good match for the Aitken as far as looks and size. They also ride nice at that. Both worked well for me on dirt as well as pavement.

Good deal man. I don't know how you kept your sanity all this time. I start losing my mind when I can't go outside. I feel for you being cooped up all this time. I was going to say I least you can still get out before the weather turns cold, but I suppose ... more »

Yeah, I thought the future was over there in that other thread, but now it's right here? I think we've stumbled onto parallel universes here.
