omg. odyssey will be just the same, most of them are just basically the same f-ing bearings.

Well that shit ain't flying, I nose tapped a big red ball at target and snapped that shit and the last one I just 360d down a set and nose dived a little and it wouldn't spin right after idk I been outa the game a year but the quaility of parts seems shittier in the bearing aspect of the game

as stated, most of the bmx headsets use the same or very similar bearings, quality wise.

I don't know if you're going to find a stronger bearing, honestly.

Maybe try to get back to the sub 200 pound range?

Make sure they are on correctly. DO NOT USE THE LOWER RACE IF YOUR FORK HAS AN INTEGRATED RACE. Make sure your head tube is not toast. Make sure everything is snug, but free spinning.

Which bearing craps out first? Upper or lower?

When you have everything together, does the setup have any play?

I'm 6ft 5" so under 200 lbs is a no, and the upper went on both everything was installed properly, I installed the first one and had trouble brought it to the bike shop and they installed the second one which operated fine for about two day, forks stem bars compression cap is all brand new so idk what else it could be maybe just did have some bad luck nothing to do but buy a new one and if it fucks up repeat until I find on that's good and strong

im not sure if the fsa pro bearings are any stronger than the regular bearings, but empire seems to think so.

Pretty much all headset bearings are the same that you'd get from mail order bike places and shops, and set to the same specs. They just have a different logo printed on them, and the dust cap is the difference.

Go to your lbs (Local Bearing shop/supplier and ask for heavy duty machine grade bearings. Brink them the bearing code and you can compare side and top load tollerences. DO NOT GET CERAMIC bearings, they will last much less

I gotta wonder if there isn't something else afoot here, I weigh 238 LBS and have the same headset I have been running for a couple years now, not a single issue, on 2 different frames.

As to the same spot giving out, honestly I wonder if something shifts or loosens while you ride, and then fully gives out when you land.

Can you post a few photos of your setup, the bearings that crapped out (if you still have them) your head tube from above and below (so we can see if it is out of round) and your fork steer tube where the lower bearing rests?

I used to break Tioga headsets the same day I installed them. Since I've been running integrated HS's though, no issues. I also don't ride anywhere near as hard or often as I did 20+ years ago though.

Are you telling me you've never broke a headset, ever?

I broke a DK MPH headset, but it was during installation I messed it up WAAYYYY back in the day. Outside of that I broke ONE that I can think of, an unsealed generic one back in 2001 or so, just by riding.

I think you can mod the solid headset to work with integrated headtubes, would be a decent option to look into.

Ive never destroyed the sealed headsets.
But back when loose ball was almost all we had I would change out my bb bearings adn the headset bearings each week because the casing or the balls would crush. You must have the best luck ever

the struggles of riding bikes when they were complete crap. I went through countless ONE PIECE cranks because I couldn't afford a pair of 3 piece cranks. This was back when there were more one piece cranks on the market than 3 piece. and only rich racers had sealed bearings in their headsets and BB's.
